If you don't like the weather in England, wait 10 minutes. Isn't that what they say? As we arrived at the Club the windscreen wipers were fully employed and the car doors threatened to tear from their hinges.
By start time, 18.30, it was all sunshine and gentle breeze!! But, half way up the beat to Hutchins, the weather gods reminded us that they were still in attendance and the decision to carry genoas was re-thought. By the time Hutchins was reached the wind had swung into the West so spinnakers were often on the wrong side. Most crews managed a quick gybe or a pre-buoy rounding switch, we didn't, and couldn't gybe until nearing Brownsea. Two reaches later and we followed the fleet round Northshore Homes for beat number two, to Morris Lane off Poole YC. Madeleine led the way with Crackerjack doing well to keep in contention. Flying Colours, having been caught trailing at the start and having difficulty with her jib halliard, did well to recover to third just pipping Wijit at the end.

Monday 25th April
A blustery damp day gave way to a blustery but clear evening for the 2nd of the J24 Spring series races. The NW direction of the wind and the severity of the gusts did not make things easier for the 7 boats which took to the start line.
After Hamish race mark, a long run to Bell race mark ensued and there were more wraps than at a Tesco lunch counter as spinnakers were fought with rather than flown. Crackerjack was nearly mooring up for an early beer at the Royal Motor YC before they managed to douse their recalcitrant headsail !
Wisely Vinyl Solutions decided against using one and actually gained a position or two within the fleet.
However, the breeze died so this safety first policy subsequently proved unsuccessful.
Madeleine romped home ahead of Flying Colours whilst Crackerjack recovered to 3rd.
Unfortunately Zaphod came a cropper on a sandbank and subsequently retired, whilst the rest of us switched on the nav. lights a persevered to finish at Ro Ro !
Bring on those nice warm summer's evenings.

What a shame to miss out yet again whilst Vinyl Solutions sits on the concrete!!
An almost windless start saw Jobs for the Buoys and Madeleine over the line, so our Worlds' representatives on board Pheonix, led at the first windward mark.
However, their German exploits took their toll and Georgina, Sophie and friends slipped back to finish 4th behind Flying Colours and Crackerjack.
Madeleine, meanwhile recovered from their poor start, to register yet another win in the series .

Parkstone Monday Evening Twilight Series
After a 6 week absence Vinyl Solutions was finally up and racing again on Monday 31st August. The fleet had shrunk to only 5 boats due to other Bank Holiday commitments.
With an extremely low tide, an anticipated power packed incoming tide from 18.30, and a northerly breeze, the race officer had a difficult task to set a competitive course, but it turned out very well.
A tight reach to Stakes, a spinnaker run to Bell race mark, via Glovers and then a windward / leeward around Buoy 21 and Bell race mark, kept everyone on their toes.
Sadly for us, on board Vinyl Solutions, a split pin disappeared, followed by a cotter pin, which left a bottle screw floating in the breeze. An unstayed mast meant that a retirement quickly followed, whilst Madeleine was followed home by Flying Colours, Jobs for the Buoys and Zaphod.
The series results are posted on the Club board, but, in summary, so far:

PS On 24th August the third placed boat sported the number 427. I have not include their result as yet. Can anyone tell me who it was, please?
